Job title: Medical Billing & AR Specialist

Are you detail driven, organized, and experienced in medical billing? Do you enjoy solving claim issues and keeping revenue flowing smoothly? We’re looking for a Medical Billing & Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our growing healthcare team in Bellingham, Washington.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast paced medical office environment and takes pride in accurate, timely billing and follow up.

🧾 What You’ll Be Doing

Claims Management
• Create and submit secondary claims through Billing System
• Manage clearinghouse rejections and resubmit claims promptly
• Identify and resolve missing demographic or insurance information

Payment Posting
• Post all ERA/EOB payments into billing system
• Ensure all posted payments are properly deposited and matched with EOBs
• Apply adjustments accurately (CO, PR, OA, contractuals, etc.)
• Manage payer takebacks, refund requests, and post payment recoupments

Denial Management
• Work basic claim denials and make necessary corrections
• Identify and correct coding errors
• Rebill corrected claims
• Initiate reconsiderations and submit appeals to insurance carriers

Accounts Receivable (A/R) Follow Up
• Work the aging report daily
• Contact payers to obtain claim status updates
• Follow up on pending items and document activity in system

Patient Billing
• Respond to patient billing questions with professionalism and empathy
• Contact patients regarding outstanding balances
• Offer payment options and set up payment plans as needed

✅ What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience in medical billing and A/R (ModMed experience strongly preferred)
• Solid understanding of insurance payments, denials, and adjustments
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Professional communication skills with payers, patients, and team members
